About Threshold
Threshold, a non-profit, has been the place to turn to for parents with autistic children for more than thirty years. Founder Teena Willard has made it clear that no child will be turned away.
Few disorders are as devastating to a child and his or her family as Autism. Instead of Little League games and sleepovers, most people with Autism will face lifelong supervision and care, exhausting a family’s financial and emotional resources. The nation’s fastest growing serious developmental disorder, Autism now affects one in 91 children in the United States,up more than tenfold from just a decade ago. There are almost 1.5 million cases of Autism in this country alone, with 3 children being diagnosed per hour.
To put it in perspective more children will be born with Autism this year than AIDS, Diabetes, and Cancer combined. Threshold serves as home, school, medical and dental clinic for the most vulnerable of people in our community, the developmentally disabled.
